Instituted of Complex Medical Engineering
In the twenty-first century, applications in medicine and engineering must acquire greater safety and flexibility if they are to yield better products at higher efficiency. To this end, neuroscience and biomedical technology must be integrated in medicine and engineering. Neuroscience and biomedical engineering have developed into two independent academic fields of science and engineering, yet we still are a long way from understanding the mechanisms of human neural systems, and to understand neurological disorders. The human neural mechanism is a complex system; to solve the complex problems, we need more neuroscience basic research efforts and biomedical engineering tools. The solution of many neuroscience complex problems will involve highly coordinated and highly interdisciplinary research efforts between neuroscientists and biomedical engineers. The neuroscience and the biomedical engineering will be melted into a new research field. We called the new research field as Complex Medical Engineering. In order to develop the new field, we have dedicated a new international society, Instituted of Complex Medical Engineering (ICME). ICME is a non-profit society (organization). The purpose of the society shall be to promote the scientific research and industrial development in the field of complex medical engineering. To this end, ICME shall bring together researchers from diverse fields of neuroscience and biomedical engineering. ICME is expected to stimulate the future research and development of new theory, new approach, and new tools, to grow the new field of Complex Medical Engineering.
